Steven is our resident deep-diver when it comes to Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and connectivity. With a unique background that bridges traditional mechanics and modern IT/OT integration, he isn't the type to just install a solution and walk away. He always wants to look further and understand exactly how something works.
Steven’s career is a tale of two halves. For the first 15 years of his professional life, he worked in his family's automotive business as a diagnostic technician. But as vehicles evolved from mechanical machines into "computers on wheels," Steven became less interested in the cars themselves and far more fascinated by the electronics and connectivity systems inside them.
Chasing this new interest, he went back to school to earn a Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering (Automation) at the KU Leuven campus in Geel. And this leap of faith clearly paid off!
As a consultant, he landed a massive project in the automotive sector, where the existing MES was far too bloated for their needs. Through trial and error, Steven built a highly performant, custom traceability tool from scratch. He single-handedly set up the IT/OT connectivity, established the databases, and ensured the flawless data flow for five 24/7 assembly lines.
As that project prepared to transition, Steven had a difficult decision to make. A major firm offered him an IT-related role, but it lacked the hands-on connectivity he loved from the shop floor. Right on cue, our managing partner Jurgen reached out via LinkedIn. Coretecs offered the exact focus on OT engineering Steven was looking for, combined with an ambitious, scale-up environment.
Since joining us, Steven has started putting his connectivity background to good use by becoming one of our dedicated specialists for MES platforms, starting with Tulip.
Outside of the digital factory, Steven is also dedicated to what he does. When he started playing rugby, he also earned his coaching certificate and put his shoulders under the club to help it grow. And it’s exactly that kind of constructive, supportive energy that he's bringing to Coretecs. Welcome aboard, Steven!
