Areas of expertise
Jurgen is all about embracing the bigger picture. He has a knack for grasping most things without diving into the technical minutiae, but he also believes in taking the time to do things right.
Jurgen started out as an industrial engineer with a focus on electromechanics. Since he couldn’t specialise in automation at his university, he opted for manufacturing, where he was exposed to a wide range of subjects, including project management. This kindled his interest in less technical but more holistic perspectives.
He started working at Yokogawa in Zaventem, where he delved into programming PLCs, SCADA, and DCS systems. He worked on foreign missions, including an oil drilling platform in Africa, gaining diverse experiences along the way. After these assignments, he felt the urge for a new challenge and transitioned to the sales department, handling quotes, prospecting, and account management.
In his sales role, Jurgen got the chance to enter the world of project management. He gradually evolved into a project lead, collaborating closely with Mathias. During one of these projects, he had the opportunity to meet Adrien, recognizing the potential they had together.
As the project concluded, Jurgen started a new chapter as a freelancer at imec. It was here that Mathias approached him with the idea of Coretecs. After discussions with Adrien, they decided to embark on this journey together. They felt a compelling need to bring IT knowledge into the manufacturing and process industry world, bridging the gap in an environment that is often sceptical about change and innovative technologies.
Beyond his professional endeavours, Jurgen's dedication extends to his personal life. He fully automated his house during a complete renovation, even building a server rack with a NAS and switches. These days, he spends most of his time traveling with his wife and two children, and he enjoys playing padel.
